Derek Brower

US political news editor

Derek Brower is the US political news editor and oversees the FT's Washington DC bureau and the 2024 presidential election coverage. Based in New York, his role also includes reporting on foreign and military affairs, economic and monetary policy, and business regulation.

Derek was previously the US energy editor and editor of the Energy Source newsletter.

He has covered energy and global politics for 20 years, working across the Middle East and North Africa, North America, and Russia.
