Eleni Varvitsioti

Greece and Cyprus Correspondent

Eleni Varvitsioti is the correspondent for Greece and Cyprus at the Financial Times. Before that, she was Brussels correspondent for Greece’s leading newspaper Kathimerini and Skai TV, where she covered extensively the Eurozone crisis. During her posting, she co-authored a book describing Greece’s negotiations with its creditors during the financial crisis and how the country came face-to-face with economic catastrophe called “The Last Bluff”, which became a best seller.

She is a commentator on the evening news of ANT1 News in Greece.

Before moving to Brussels, she spent a decade working for the award-winning investigative Greek TV program “The Folders,” covering a wide range of issues reporting from across Europe, Latin America, North Africa, and the U.S.
